Etta L. Forry
My work explores themes of self-reflection, existentialism, and the search for truth, often inhabiting liminal spaces between reality and dreams, life and death, and the human and inhuman. Working primarily in oil paint, I combine representational techniques rooted in classical painting traditions with imaginative and psychologically driven subject matter. Influenced by both the technical discipline of Renaissance masters and the immersive environments of contemporary installation art, I aim to create images that feel simultaneously intimate, symbolic, and otherworldly.
Much of my work draws from personal experience and functions as a form of observation and introspection. Whether through self-portraiture, depictions of family members, or familiar spaces, my paintings become reflections of inner states and attempts to grapple with questions surrounding identity, perception, and transcendence.
